The headlines tug on us all. War, politics, greed, deceit, devastation. In the moment, it’s easy to give in and let them win.

But a longer game is being played around us – one that rewards discipline, like most games.

The game is the size of the fight in the market. Over and over, time and again, it adapts, charges on, and finds a way to make new highs.

From 1970 to 2022, despite all the headlines, the size of the fight in the market made a $10,000 investment in the S&P 500 grow to over $1.7M.

Investors who gave in to emotions of fear, greed, and doubt over that timeline likely made far less. Some made none at all.

But disciplined investors let the size of the fight in the market do what it always does best: be the victor of the only game it plays – the long game.
