As painful as they can be, recessions come and go. As gainful as they can be, expansions come and go. In the end, expansions win. Our collective consciousness, which drives the economy (the interaction of people, corporations, and governments) is always expanding.
Amazon is not the same company it was 25 years ago. Neither is Illumina, Apple, or Wal-Mart. Despite recessions along the way, they’ve all expanded. As have we.
Our natural state is to expand. But we’re not perfect. We give in to fear and greed and make many, many mistakes. When that happens, we recede. We take a step back. But the recession is temporary. Despite the greatest of setbacks, we find a way to move forward.
Our consciousness, our will, moves us forward. Until that stops, the end of all recessions will be the same. The start of a new expansion.
This is the stock market: a collection of human consciousness – receding at moments yet always expanding.
