ESG is a system for how to measure the sustainability of an investment in three specific categories: Environmental, Social and Governance. ESG investing, is a form of sustainable investing that considers an investment’s financial returns and its overall social and environmental impact.
On Tuesday, June 22nd we’re hosting a virtual event featuring Capital Group Senior VP and Investment Director, David Polak, and HoyleCohen Associate Portfolio Manager, Robert Lopez to discuss their strategies and thoughts on the ESG and social investing landscape.

David Polak: Senior VP & Investment Manager, CAPITAL GROUP
David Polak is an equity investment director at Capital Group, leading the investment specialist team for equities and representing a number of Capital’s global equity strategies. He has 36 years of investment industry experience and has been with Capital Group for 14 years. Prior to joining Capital, he was a managing director in the equity businesses of UBS and Deutsche Bank. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from University College London graduating with honors. David is based in New York.
Robert Lopez, MSA, CAIA,
Associate Portfolio Manager, HoyleCohen
Mr. Lopez serves as an Associate Portfolio Manager in the Investment Department at HoyleCohen. He is an active member of the firm’s Investment Committee often leading meetings and investment discussions, and plays an integral role in the future growth and development of investment management strategies at the firm. Mr. Lopez assists in diligence reviews, core model research and drafting investment related collateral and client communications, as well as maintaining internal records. Additionally, he works closely with Advisory teams to provide portfolio management recommendations.
Mr. Lopez holds a Bachelor’s from the University of California Los Angeles, a Master’s from Northeastern University and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation. Active in the community, Robert serves on the board as Treasurer of the UCLA-SD Alumni Network.
