What can I do? – Sacramento
As part of our “What can I do to help and support my community series”, we wanted to give a nod to several Sacramento organizations that are stepping up in extraordinary ways. They are all grateful for donations and volunteers.
- Donate4Sacramento Covid-19 Regional Response Fund: Sacramento’s public, private, labor and nonprofit leaders have formed a regional response fund to provide food, housing, and utility relief to families, small-businesses, unhoused neighbors, and nonprofits affected by Covid-19.
- United Way California Capital Region – UWCCR has established a Covid-19 relief fund to provide essential resources for low-income families. They have partnered with local nonprofits and community centers to supply meals for children under 18 years of age. With the closure of K-12 school districts, United Way has dedicated efforts to providing grab-n-go breakfasts and lunches to children in need.
- Sacramento Region Community Foundation – SRCF has activated its disaster relief fund, which is supported by fund-holders, individual donors, and regional partners. The Foundation is committed to supporting the challenges community nonprofits are faced with from Covid-19.
- Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services – The Food Bank remains open according to CDC guidelines to serve the people of Sacramento meals. The Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services’ decades-long mission to provide the community access to food has become even more critical during a time where food security is being threatened.
- Salvation Army Del Oro Division – The Salvation Army Del Oro Division is stepping up in Northern California to continue its support of the community. In Sacramento County, more than tens of thousands of food boxes have been served in a drive-thru distribution center to low-income families, seniors, or anyone else in need of food. Additionally, the organization is carrying forward with its usual essential services to deliver critical support to those in need.
